Lilly Pulitzer, the brand, and the woman started it all in Palm Beach, Florida. In the late 1950s, Pulitzer owned a juice stand and was always staining her clothes with different fruit juices. Suddenly, customers wanted to buy more of her dresses than her juice! Her dresses were very bohemian and free-spirited when first starting out. The company expanded too quickly and made poor design changes causing them to file for bankruptcy and close its doors in the 1980s. In the 90s, Lilly Pulitzer reopened and rebranded into more of a corporate interpretation of the previous styles. Now, the brand’s clothing and accessories are an iconic resort, preppy style with bright colors and prints.

Lilly Pulitzer now makes just about anything one’s heart can desire. The company offers everything from pajamas to swimwear to stationary in their iconic prints. My personal favorite in recent years has been their Luxletic® line. The line targets athleisure wear and sportswear. Luxletic features leggings, running shorts, tennis dresses, golf skirts, sports bras, 1/4 zips, etc.

I have worn several Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic® pieces and love them so much! Fashionable athleisure wear is pretty hard to find, which makes Lilly Pulitzer stand out in the market. Not only is Luxletic® fashionable, but it is also highly functional. Their dresses, skirts, and shorts have built in shorts or lining underneath while the tops have built in bras or UPF to protect from the sun.

Due to COVID-19, athleisure wear and loungewear have become very popular. People want to be comfortable while working from home or running limited errands. Even before COVID-19, athletic wear became more and more popular among consumers due to people no longer wearing it solely to work out. With that being said, I believe Lilly Pulitzer’s Luxletic® line will be successful for many years to come.
